How to Prevent Multiple Sclerosis

Although Multiple Sclerosis cannot be 100% prevented, there are some things you can do to help reduce the risk of getting MS. Maintaining a healthy body weight and getting a good amount of vitamin D is very important when looking at how to reduce the risk of MS. In order to maintain a body weight and get vitamin D, it is important to continue to stay active and have a good diet. Having high stress levels can lead to many problems within your body, so it is always good to have good time management and organizational skills so that your stress levels can be reduced and can lower the chances of obtaining any problems, such as MS.

Multiple Sclerosis is seen to occur in higher percentages of specific people. MS is most common to occur in females. It is also likely to regain MS after previously getting over it. People between the ages of 20 and 50 are also more likely to get MS because during this time, people are more busy and do not have time to look after themselves to make sure they are stable and healthy. People with a history of autoimmune diseases or viral infections such as Epstein-Berr are also more vulnerable to multiple Sclerosis.

Ways to prevent Multiple Sclerosis have been mentioned, but there are also ways that make the symptoms of multiple sclerosis worse than they already are. The first one is smoking, smoking can increase the chance of chest infections which can allow MS to relapse. The second is a high amount of heat, heat can also worsen the symptoms of MS so it is better to stay indoors during the summer time for people who struggle with MS. The third is stress, stress is a large factor that contributes to the worsening of MS. Not having enough sleep, struggling with mental health, and just being very busy can all affect the symptoms of MS. The last is Childbirth, 20-40% of women have a flare-up after giving birth. Women do not have to avoid giving birth if they have MS but they will most likely relapse after giving birth.
